Requisition Number: 154738

Position Title: Software Engineer III

External Description:

We are DICE Stockholm

We entertain millions of people across the globe with the most amazing and immersive interactive software in the industry. But making games is hard work. That’s why we employ the most creative, passionate people in the industry.

DICE (EA Digital Illusions Creative Entertainment), the award-winning developer based in Stockholm, Sweden, is best known for creating the phenomenally successful Battlefield franchise and the Star Wars series Battlefront.

We are looking for an AI Engineer with a passion for creating innovative AI and gameplay features for our future games. You probably enjoy the challenge of solving complex tasks in a way that produces great results, while keeping the performance footprint minimal. When it comes to technical skills, we believe you have a proven track record of developing and shipping AAA games, driving the development of AI and gameplay on those titles. Experience with creating FPS single player or co-op experiences is a possible background that you have, but we are open to you having a different set of experiences as long as you are able to work with our team toward a clear goal.

Every AI team member has a lot of impact on the features we create, as well as building the AI team itself. You are an open and curious engineer and you get a kick out of working closely with your team leader and more junior team members. You also enjoy getting designer feedback and seeing your features being the building blocks of the best games in the world.

Desired Skills

  • Experience from implementing AI decision making in different ways, for instance through behaviour trees, utility systems or planning.
  • Experience: 5+ years of games industry (or other relevant) experience, shipped at least 1 AAA title working within the field of game AI.
  • Extensive knowledge of the different parts that make up game AI and how these parts relate to academic AI.
  • Bachelor/Master’s degree in Computer Science or relevant field, or equivalent experience
  • Expert C++, scalable data-driven design.
  • Strong interest/experience in creating reusable, modular AI systems.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skill.

We do not believe it matters if you have a degree in Computer Science or if you are self-taught. Your deep subject-matter knowledge, your engineering skills and experience, and your drive to constantly improve and evolve is what makes you right for this job.

What’s in it for you? Glad you asked!

At DICE we take care of our staff and have done so during our steady growth over the last decade. In addition to a competitive compensation package, we offer our employees 10 EA games per year, massage every three weeks, a variety of sports activities (yoga and cross fit to name a few) and health care allowance. We have a collective bargain agreement with Unionen and Sveriges Ingenjörer which includes a parental salary benefit program and also provide our employees’ with occupational pension.

At DICE, we respect and value our employees’ personal lives. A good work-life balance is something we practice and maintain even during high-intensity periods.
