Automation Strategist, Dynamic Messaging

Job Description

A visible and strategic role in EA’s Dynamic Messaging team. This individual will be part of the Dynamic Omnichannel Messaging (DOM) team, a centralized, always-on, automated marketing program that drives acquisition, engagement and retention across EA’s portfolio of games and destinations. The Marketing Automation Strategist will develop, deploy, and optimize strategies that determine how, when and what content gets distributed to players across multiple channels based on player behavior.

This role will be based at EA’s global headquarters located in Redwood Shores, California.

Summary

The Dynamic Omnichannel Messaging team’s primary goal is to motivate players to engage with EA games by delivering content against key moments in the player’s journey. The team focuses on leveraging behavioral and transactional data, as well as automation tools to deliver personalized messages, at scale.  The team strategically delivers enterprise-wide solutions that allow for cross-channel marketing automation and power new digital business models.

The Marketing Automation Strategist will combine data-led analysis with creative thinking to develop channel-agnostic lifecycle governance strategies that act as the rules for how an always-on, data-driven program should organize, prioritize and optimize content distribution across our network of games and destinations. The role will work closely with cross-functional internal teams and stakeholders to ensure business goals are achieved and that governance strategies are closely aligned with marketing goals, channel best practices, target attributes, and player motivations.

Responsibilities of this role include:

  • Player-first strategies: partner with EA’s cross-functional disciplines (global communications, brand marketing, analytics & consumer insights, publishing, studio and creative leadership) to develop global content governance strategies that anticipate players behaviors, use business rules and algorithmic programming to deliver highly relevant communications and reduce friction around gameplay.
  • Work closely with data scientists to uncover insights as to how our players move through the EA eco-system in order to build and optimize our algorithmic strategic approach to content distribution.
  • Apply systematic approaches to data collection, KPIs, program optimization and partner collaboration.
  • Identify and activate opportunities to drive innovation and efficiencies across established and emerging channels, ensuring that enhancements work from a centralized view of our games, channels and players.
  • Work closely with technology teams to implement governance strategies, leading the prioritization of what we should build and how it should be built, ensuring business goals and player needs are met.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in CRM/Lifecycle Marketing and/or Marketing Automation, including:
    • Content Management/Automation Systems
    • Customer lifecycle frameworks
    • Digital channels, especially owned channels
    • Content marketing
    • Database-driven marketing strategies, analysis and reporting

  • Bachelor’s Degree. Marketing or Business Degree preferred.
  • Experienced in working with data engineers & technical product builds, e.g. sprint cycles, data architecture plans.
  • Strategic thinker, with the ability to clearly articulate and document vision and develop implementation plans that stakeholders buy-in to.
  • Passionate about using marketing as a service, being an advocate for the consumer and pushing communications to deliver meaningful experiences
  • Mastery of online engagement metrics and approaches to optimization.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, communicate priorities, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; comfortable with data
  • Proficient with Microsite Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)

Success Measurement

  • Successful growth of the Dynamic Omnichannel Messaging team’s impact on EA’s business – as measured by EA’s core player metrics, loyalty, engagement, and overall player lifetime value.
  • Ability to strategically advance our capabilities as an always-on, data driven program that must manage millions of pieces of content.
  • Increasing the breadth of content, we can manage and the sophistication to which it can be managed.
