Position Title: Sr Game Designer

BioWare is a division of EA.  Currently announced projects at BioWare include the newly revealed IP Anthem: a shared-world action RPG, the ongoing support of the Mass Effect franchise: one of the highest rated video game series of all time, Dragon Age: Inquisition, the latest entry in the Dragon Age franchise, and Star Wars ™: The Old Republic™: a story-driven massively multiplayer online game.

 

Principal UX Designer

 

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working within console or mobile applications and a strong understanding of current best practices for interface and interaction design.  This candidate will also have experience working directly with Visual Designers and Engineers to translate high level product requirements into designs that deliver compelling user experiences.  

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Oversee user experience (UX) design of features from conception to launch;
  • Collaborate closely with a growing global UX team;
  • Employ user-centered design practices to create world class interactive experiences;
  • Develop detailed wireframes, flowcharts, mockups, and other product deliverables to effectively communicate designs and produce requirements;
  • Mentor peers, stakeholders and teammates on user centered design principles and methodologies;
  • Observe usability testing and focus groups to validate interaction design and product direction;
  • Champion UX design team initiatives such as creation of design guidelines, process enhancements, toolkits, etc. fostering a user-centered culture;
  • Thrive in a fast-paced work environment requiring independent self-direction with an aptitude for team collaboration and open communication.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Interaction Design, Human Factors, Industrial Design/Engineering, Arts or related HCI discipline, or demonstrated proficiency and experiences in the field of software user experience / interaction design;
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in UX design for console or mobile applications;
  • Experience in game development;
  • Proficiency in UX design tools;
  • Strong creative problem solver who challenges the status quo;
  • Highly motivated self-starter, capable of operating with minimal management oversight;
  • Strong passion for gaming.
  • English is the required language of work.

 

The ideal candidate’s portfolio will demonstrate:

  • Excellent conceptual and problem solving skills illustrating an iterative design process
  • Strong knowledge of interaction design process as applied to mobile and console products
  • Case studies highlighting user centered design research and its impact on design solutions
  • Examples of wireframes, low and high fidelity prototypes and information architecture mapping
