The Team:

We are creatively driven and focused on high end visual production across multiple genres and art styles.  Our art studios are in Redwood City, Vancouver, Orlando, Guildford, Gothenburg, and Shanghai. Collaborating directly with our game team partners we share a unified passion for creating amazing experiences, and industry leading visuals. Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and own the unified and common technological vision, roadmap and art workflows for content authoring and its associated tools and pipelines
  • Collaborate with external EA partners, internal EA organizations and Designers, Artists and Engineers to understand and interpret gameplay requirements and drive best-in-class technology for EA’s titles.
  • Drive the technical art asset delivery for the entire game
  • Drive continuous asset build stability and provide mentorship to technical artists to help debug asset failures.
  • Prioritize development needs, both internal to game team as well as those delivered to partner groups such as Core Technology, Configuration Management, Artworks and other central teams.
  • Evaluate technology delivered by central teams for technical completion, performance, quality and compliance.
  • Prototype cutting-edge approaches to art/content creation in support of R&D efforts and new intellectual property.

 

Required Technical Skills and Experience:

  • At least 10 years games/animation/FX production experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of CG fundamentals: modeling, texturing/shading/surfacing, rigging, animation, lighting, rendering, compositing.
  • Strong understanding of game development frameworks and methodologies.
  • Understanding of various gaming platform limitations with regard to visual assets.
  • Expert understanding of at least one 3D package, preferably Maya.
  • Advanced scripting experience with Python and/or Mel/Maya API.
  • Ability to deconstruct and modify proprietary tools and pipelines.
  • Excellent aptitude for troubleshooting CG issues.
  • Ability to think creatively to resolve technical challenges and limitations.
  • Strong understanding of good asset management practices.
  • Excellent communication skills, with a willingness and confidence to provide a bridge between artists and software engineers.
  • Experience shipping AAA game cinematic lighting is a plus.
  • Experience shipping AAA game level lighting is a Plus.
  • Enthusiastic about film, photography, video games, and painting.
  • Experience mentoring artists, engineers, and/or technical artists.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience/training

 

Performance Competencies:

  • The candidate must be meticulous, detail oriented, driven, and need very little supervision.
  • Will have the ability to work to deliver on time.
  • Experience working in both video games and film preferred.
