What the Art Director for Anthem Live will do at BioWare:

The Art Director, you are responsible for the visual quality, bringing the team under a consistent and unified direction and utilizing groundbreaking techniques and tools.

 

Working closely with the Creative Director, Executive Producer and Producers, the Art Director will define the game’s visual direction using cutting edge techniques from film and games to deliver unprecedented visuals for our product.

Who You Are:

The AD facilitates and builds upon the game direction by driving the vision and pushing for high quality and creatively finding technical solutions in conjunction with Art Directors, Technical Artist and engineers.

 

Great communication skills are essential as the AD is expected to present to executives, Licensing team and the overall development team. This role also involves working closely with the marketing team on branding related materials.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely as a member of the Game leadership team to deliver world-class AAA games and experiences that delight users and meet business goals
  • As leader of the art team the AD inspires and motivates the team to deliver their best work and provides effective and constructive feedback to the Art Directors and art team.
  • Proficiency in documentation and communication is essential in sharing information and articulating the rationale behind the art direction decisions among the development team, outsourcing, internal executives and our licensing partners.
  • Prepare licensing submissions and quickly respond to feedback from artistic stakeholders within EA and external licensing partner.
  • The AD also works with external teams including outsourcing partners and is expected to communicate and maintain the vision on an international basis.
  • Encourage the artistic development of artists on staff through training and mentorship.

  • As a master of their craft and experienced in this field, the AD will help in staff development from recruiting, training, and guidance.
  • Project planning and tracking skills & understanding are important to insure the team stays on track and priorities adapt to creative changes as needed.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • 8+ years extensive games industry art experience in shipping AAA titles, 5+ years of which should have been as Art Director
  • Experience working with teams across multiple locations that requires frequent travel
  • HD console game development and / or film experience
  • Ability to effectively direct and delegate to Art Directors & Leads
  • Able to give effective critiques and also take feedback & criticism
  • Demonstration of strong all-round art skills in both 2D and 3D
  • Solid understanding of popular games and their art direction
  • Passion, energy and enthusiasm
