Quality Analyst

What a Quality Analyst will do at BioWare:

The QA Analyst is responsible for working with the development team on the quality creation and implementation of systems. An example of such a team might be game specific systems such as combat, balance, online, and social.

This person will play a key role in ensuring a seamless player experience with the product, “testing” for usability and understanding development tools and workflows.

 

Your responsibilities as a Quality Analyst  at BioWare will include:

Close Collaboration with the Development team: This is an embedded QA Role. You will be working daily with the development team, being a visible QA resource to them while constantly making sure that the support you provide is relevant, actionable and useful.

Functional Testing - You will be one of the first people to evaluate new systems, from concept to final implementation. You will be providing feedback that is appropriate to the stage of development, while always analyzing how it also fits into the bigger picture of the game as a whole.

Test Strategy – You will work with your peers to create a strategy for how best to test and provide coverage for the game systems you are supporting.

Test Script Creation - You will be responsible for creating test scripts for new features and keeping them up to date for yourself and other team members to use.

Test Content Creation -  You may be creating test content to allow QA to test various systems and assets in isolation.

 

The Next Great BioWare Quality Analyst needs:

Experience - A minimum of 1-year experience in the testing and validation of video game software.

Knowledge - You need to understand software development concepts and programming syntax. You should know how to apply these to QA. You need to know how to analyze content, as well as how to go about debugging a bug or a problem.

Independence - You need to be able to identify and solve problems creatively and without guidance. If you do not have the information you require, you need to know how about getting it. You need to be self-organized with the ability to prioritize and balance conflicting tasks or deliverables.

Communication - Strong Verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills are a large requirement for this role as you will be working with a large and diverse set of people.

Collaboration - You will be one in a team of many and as such must be comfortable working with a large, and sometimes, remote, team.

Attentive - You will need to be detail oriented and capable of working with and organizing large sets of data, variables, and deliverables which are constantly changing.

Analytical - You need to be able to disassemble a problem into its individual components in order to reach the core issue and be aware how problems will affect other areas. Being Analytical and mathematical when dealing with gameplay elements will provide a large advantage.

 

Advantages:

Experience in Online and Social components in video games

A Degree in Computer Science or other relevant experience

Experience using and making content in an engine such as CryEngine, Unreal or Unity

Familiarity with BioWare products
