The EA Capital Games studio in Sacramento, California is seeking an experienced Senior Game Designer to collaborate with key creative talent to design and deliver world-class intuitive mobile gameplay experiences.

Capital Games is best known for the break-out mobile hit Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes which has been the #1 Grossing game in over 35 countries and is one of the Top 40 Grossing Games in the world across Apple and Google for the last year. The game also consistently maintains a 4.5-star rating and is played over two hours a day on average by players.

This role will focus on the ideation, concept development, prototype creation and production ready game game-play for an all-new mobile game.  This game will build on Capital Games’ core strengths developing engaging mobile game experiences. This is a unique opportunity to be a ground floor team member on a new game.

Responsibilities

Work with the Creative Director/Production/Development Team/PM teams to establish: Baseline concept, game prototypes, key gameplay features and modes, production-ready gameplay.

Must work within established creative and business goals.

Help establish the quality bar for immersive and exciting gameplay.

Have a clear understanding of the game and be able to clearly, and simply, communicate it to other team members and players

Contribute to establishing and enforcing consistent design practices, constraints, and metrics throughout the varied phases of development, launch, and live support.

Help mentor other designers and lead by example.

Understand the competitive landscape and work to ensure we are aligned our gameplay with an evolving marketplace.

Work with team to ensure there is a strong post-launch creative feature and content is the plan in place.

Work with team to implement continued live service features and content.

Requirements

5+ years of game design experience (mobile CCG/Strategy highly preferred)

Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of mobile CCG/RPG games

Excellent communication skills (written/verbal)

Experience working with a game engine, using scripting tools to orchestrate events, and implementing 3D work into the pipeline.

Extensive understanding of design process including level flow, engagement, structure, pacing, environmental storytelling, testing, etc.

Experience in rapid prototyping to test the viability of concepts.

Ability to pitch game design concepts in a clear, detailed manner, through strong written and verbal skills.

Ability to adapt and evolve creative plans to address internal and external feedback.

Strong understanding of level editing packages such as Maya, Unity, UDK, or other proprietary tools.

Contributed to games that demonstrated the above requirements with a high level of proficiency.
