We are looking for a new leader for EA's Data Science for Personalization Intelligence, the group responsible for pushing the goal of developing and deploying quantitatively based personalization methodologies. Our data science team exists to expand our horizons, whether we are developing cutting edge statistical breakdowns of players or creating the latest and greatest recommendation systems to ensure that every player journey is truly their own.
You will be responsible for managing and expanding the data science team, which entails being the guiding hand for a central team that works across our entire portfolio, and for the team’s execution of projects and milestones. Our team-members manage projects in a collaborative, group environment, and this role is responsible for understanding and empowering these efforts while also channeling them into the vision laid out for the data science team. You will also be representing the quantitative perspective for EA’s personalization strategy, working together with partners in Dynamic Messaging and Portfolio Planning, ensuring that as we take our goal of providing unique player experiences to everyone to scale that we’re doing so in a thoughtful, measurable way.
This is a senior leadership role and success is predicated on the execution of EA’s personalization strategy, which will include: developing and maintaining alignment across partners and stakeholders alike; the clarity and efficacy of guidance and consultancy given to the central tech groups on feature development to feed said strategy; as well as the efficacy of the data science team’s execution in meeting their milestones. We are open to a range of experience coming into this role, and are focusing on the impact you can bring to the team.
We look for PhDs in fields such as computer science and mathematics, or quantitatively based degrees in social fields, such as quant marketing, sociology, and economics, but an academic pedigree is not a requirement. You will be expected to test the limits of our platform and how EA thinks about data and its role in our growth, so to be effective, you must have demonstrative experience with recommendation engines or similar systems. Given the technological landscape, we expect you to be familiar with big data stores like Hive/Hadoop, Big Query, AWS, or similar technologies, as well as have managed teams that were accomplished in a statistical language such as R, Python, or Scala, and/or have strong experience in more performant system languages such as Java.
Games and gaming are changing. Over the next few years, that change is going to accelerate and without the proper knowledge and toolsets to exploit this, many developers will struggle to keep up with it. Our job on this team is to ensure that we not only keep pace but become the shapers of that evolution, to help EA lead into the future. And that's exciting.
