Studio Technical Director 

 

As the Studio Technical Director, you’ll work with multiple teams pushing the technical infrastructure and competence of the studio, ensuring that the best player experience is built for and enjoyed by our fans.  Key responsibilities include driving excellence throughout the Respawn development teams while steering the build, test automation and online operations leadership teams. We are looking for someone who actively contributes to the vision of the studio and brings technology expertise to the table. Lastly, the Studio TD is the technical representative of Respawn to the wider EA organization and is expected to shape the greater EA technical roadmap ensuring Respawn’s strategic objectives are met.

 

What the Studio Technical Director will do at Respawn:

 

  • Defines 3-Year Technical Roadmaps for all technology within the Studio umbrella 
  • Leads the team through all of its technical leads and TDs to achieve defined technical roadmaps
  • Audits the technical quality of all major project milestones
  • Respawn technical point of contact for EA’s central technology teams, for example EADP, Frostbite, EAX, Quality Engineering, and SEED
  • Defines Configuration Management, Automation and Operational strategies in partnership with central teams
  • Aligns Respawn’s technical objectives with the wider EA senior technical leaders, including representing Respawn on the Worldwide Studios Head of Technology Council
  • Works with other Senior Respawn Leadership to define strategic objectives for the Studio
  • Mentors all technical leaders and builds succession plans for each
  • Technical Interface with external partners, for example Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, AMD, Nvidia, Intel, etc.
  • Identifies and mitigates all technical risks for the Studio



Who You Are:

 

  • 10+ years leadership experience in the AAA Gaming Industry 
  • Minimum three full project cycles successfully executed in Technical Director capacity running a large franchise project in the gaming industry
  • Extensive experience with a breadth of programming languages and tools
  • Exceptional communication and leadership abilities
  • Constantly innovating on how to improve product quality as well as group productivity
  • Experience running a large geographically distributed team with the ability to foster a strong community with an emphasis on high performance and guaranteed delivery
  • Strong mediation, diplomacy, time-management, and conflict resolution skills
  • Strong influencing skills
  • B.Sc. in Computer Science or equivalent-masters preferred. 
  • A passion for games
